Knoxville Municipal Golf Course is proud to once again participate in the 2014 World's Largest Golf Outing (WLGO). This nation wide event began in 2011 when Billy Casper Golf CEO Peter Hill created what has now become one of the largest cooperative fundraising efforts to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). We are elated to do what we can for the WWP, an organization who tirelessly workds to support our injured service men and women returning from war. Since it's inception, the WLGO has grown exponentially with each successive year, with over $1.1 million raised for the WWP to date. In 2013 alone over $700,000 was raised, setting the bar high for the 2014 edition of the WLGO.
On Monday, August 11th, the World’s Largest Golf Outing benefiting Wounded Warrior Project will be held across 110+ courses in over 28 states. WLGO is more than just a great day of golf; it’s about making a difference in the lives of our injured service men and women through participation and team fundraising which is why we value your golfing ability just as much as your fundraising ability. It is our opportunity to step up and provide support for those men and women who have so valiantly served our country; a support that all armed service men and women have more than earned.
The event itself consists of 4-person teams playing 18 holes of scramble (i.e. captain's choice) format golf. Registration fees include a $10 per player donation to WWP, green fee, cart fee, and a cook out lunch before tee-off. Prizes will be awarded based on team final score and, most importantly, a team's total donation amount. While registration fees do include a donation for each player, we encourage each team to consider additional donations, which can be submitted via the WLGO website or in the clubhouse on the day of the event. All additional donations are directly contributed to WWP, an organization which is more than deserving of our support.
Whether playing in the World’s Largest Golf Outing, volunteering at a course or donating to a team or course, this day will certainly be one to be proud of. With your family, friends, and or colleagues together we can make a difference and when all is said and done golfers who earned WWP prizes can proudly display their support for this great charity!
